Sinopse

Desde o início dos Estudos Indo-Europeus, os linguistas tentaram reconstruir aspectos das tradições Indo-Europeias que vão além das dimensões "atômicas" de línguas relacionadas, como aspectos herdados de textos Indo-Europeus e traços compartilhados por panteões e narrativas cognadas. Os capítulos deste volume abordam exatamente esses aspectos da reconstrução cultural.

Estudos de caso interdisciplinares sobre características poéticas, religião e mitologia de várias línguas indo-européias antigas (grego antigo, latim e itálico, hitita, frígio, sânscrito, avestano, nórdico antigo, irlandês antigo e russo antigo) trabalham na interseção da reconstrução linguística e filologia. 

Os resultados dessas investigações lançam nova luz sobre uma variedade de aspectos, desde etimologias obscuras até a reconstrução da ligação genética entre mitos indo-europeus inteiros.
